Cake Decorating & Artistry

A wonderful way to learn the decorative techniques to achieve masterpieces at home. All aspects of cake decorating to artistry. Evening session: 18:00 - 21:00

What will I Study: 

Royal icing techniques, sugar paste/covering cakes/artistic styles, contemporary designs and traditional; flower making and couture cake style. Please bring a clean apron, pen & paper, food containers, any small equipment, set of scales, tea towel. Please wear sensible clothing within the kitchen, safe shoes, hair tied back, no scarves or jewellery. You will require: PME 1. 1.5 & 2. icing nozzles; food colourings (basic set- primary colours) - the Wilton Set is very good from Hobbycraft or Amazon; art book/scrap books advisable.

How will I be taught: 

Practical demonstrations led by the tutor; one to one tuition within the group; individual/group discussion/evaluations of the practical work achieved.

Food of the Americas

This course aims to introduce a range of dishes from both North and South America. It is for anyone interested in trying their hand at some American classics. Tuesday Evening session: 18:00 - 20:30

Learning to Draw and Paint - Intermediate

This course aims to advance creative students in a wide range of drawing and painting disciplines and is ideal for anyone wanting to develop their artistic skills. Throughout this course, the aim is to teach you the tools and techniques you will need to succeed outside of the classroom. You will learn about key areas, providing you with a solid creative foundation and confidence to use your skills independently. Tuesday Evening Sessions: 18:00 - 20:00

What will I Study: 

This course aims to enhance the confidence and pleasure of drawing/painting in a relaxed environment. There will be the opportunity work from a model discovering how to paint a figure, as well as working from still life and from photos. This course covers a broad range of processes and techniques that every artist should know. Learn a range of skills and techniques through painting and drawing, on this course you will cover the following core areas: Life drawing, broken colour/optical mixing, glazing, mono printing, colour theory, mixed media, line & wash, composition, accurate measuring, proportions, foreshortening, perspective. For the first session you will need: Pen, notebook and a A3 sketchbook, rubber, sharpener and a range of pencils. Additional costs: A basic art kit which will be explained on 1st week.

Novelty Cakes and Cake Modelling

What to bring: • pen and paper • modelling tools • Icing tubes • Food colours • Box/containers to take things home • Cake board square 12ins Please wear Sensible Shoes. No open shoes such as Sandals, Flip Flops or High Heels. Closed shoes, such as Leather or Trainers would be preferable. Please ensure your legs are suitably covered to protect yourself, No Shorts. It is essential to bring a Cook’s apron, Cloth or Plastic Saturday session: 10:00 - 16:00
