Basic Photoshop

Introduction to Photoshop Basics is ideal for anyone wanting to develop his or her creative digital skills using this multilayered and exciting software. Photoshop is truly the backbone of digital art and graphic design. From photo manipulation, through to poster design, illustration and every area in between, Photoshop is the most commonly used application by working professionals in any creative field. What will I Study: 

On this course you will cover the following core areas: Creating and saving images, different formats, sizes and file types; Navigating around the Photoshop workspace; Selection and Cropping; Shortcuts; Transforming and Resizing, Image Adjustments and Filters. You will also explore many advanced features using Tools such as: Brushes, Erasers, Text creation, along with photographic techniques such as darkening, lightening, sharpening, blurring, repairing, faking and merging different images together.

How will I be taught: 

Practical demonstrations led by the tutor. One-to-one tuition within the group. Individual/group discussion/evaluations of the practical work achieved.

Beginners Guide to Digital Photography

This course aims to teach the very basics of Digital Photography utilising the settings and controls of your camera. Explore photo manipulation using Adobe Photoshop to produce stunning digital prints. For the first session you will need your camera and the manual if you have one, memory card and USB lead to connect to a computer. A book for your notes. Suggested Equipment: Whilst a digital compact camera is acceptable, to get the most from this course we recommend that students have a dslr camera (digital Single Lens Reflex camera). What will I Study: 

You will learn how to use your camera fully, download your photo images into the PC, how to manipulate them and produce a finished print. By the end of the course you should be able to set camera controls to create correctly exposed images in differing situations, download images to a computer, manipulate and print images.

What will I Study: 

This course aims to enhance the confidence and pleasure of drawing/painting in a relaxed environment. There will be the opportunity work from a model discovering how to paint a figure, as well as working from still life and from photos. This course covers a broad range of processes and techniques that every artist should know. Learn a range of skills and techniques through painting and drawing, on this course you will cover the following core areas: Life drawing, broken colour/optical mixing, glazing, mono printing, colour theory, mixed media, line & wash, composition, accurate measuring, proportions, foreshortening, perspective. For the first session you will need: Pen, notebook and a A3 sketchbook, rubber, sharpener and a range of pencils. Additional costs: A basic art kit which will be explained on 1st week.

Novelty Cakes and Cake Modelling

What to bring: • pen and paper • modelling tools • Icing tubes • Food colours • Box/containers to take things home • Cake board square 12ins Please wear Sensible Shoes. No open shoes such as Sandals, Flip Flops or High Heels. Closed shoes, such as Leather or Trainers would be preferable. Please ensure your legs are suitably covered to protect yourself, No Shorts. It is essential to bring a Cook’s apron, Cloth or Plastic Saturday session: 10:00 - 16:00
